It's a baby girl!!

Dylan and I took some time away from work on Wed (my birthday) and decided to have an elective ultrasound done to see if we could find out what we were having early. My OB told me I couldn't make my BIG ultrasound appt until I came to my 20 week appt which would make me 21 or 22 weeks along before we could have found out. Those that know me well enough... well that just wasn't gonna cut it! I'm so impatient!!

So we went to a place here in Des Moines called Prenatal Vision and they were awesome! We got almost 10 pictures and a DVD with the whole 16 minute ultrasound set to some music.

Our baby girl kept her legs crossed for most of the ultrasound and we were a bit disappointed thinking she wasn't gonna let us find out! But towards the end she decided to give us a peek and the ultrasound tech said "Well there it is, 110% girl, no doubt about it!" We are thrilled, and as much as Dylan says he wanted a boy, he still got teary eyed and has already started talking about "daddies girl". But he wants that leg crossing thing she has going on to stay that way for the next 20 years or so ;)

All in all it was a great day! Dylan took me out to dinner at Olive Garden and then we proceeded to head to Babies R Us to start our first registry. It was pretty overwhelming but we made it through in about 2 1/2 hours. I was exhausted. We will also be registering at Target, hopefully this weekend or next.

Well that's pretty much it for now. I will leave you with a few ultrasound pics we got on Wednesday. Til next time.

Love,
Amber, Dylan and Miss Liberty Jolene

Hello all,

Sorry I didn't get an update up right away last week. I haven't been feeling the greatest, gotta love "morning" sickness! It didn't help I left my ultrasound pictures at work all weekend either.

So anyway, we had our last appointment on Thurs. Nov. 22nd. We got to see the baby again and hear the heart beat again (never gets old!)

I went in at 10 weeks pregnant and I measured 9 weeks 5 days so right on schedule. The fertility clinic has released me to an OBGYN and I have my first appointment with my new doctor on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd.

Here's the best ultrasound pic we got...

He/She was moving around vigorously, it was so neat to see! I will keep everyone posted on my first OB appt however I don't expect another ultrasound until I'm probably around 20 weeks along.

Hope everyone is doing well... until then.

Much Love,
Amber & Dylan

First Ultrasound appointment

So today was our first ultrasound!! I was sooo excited and nervous. They say that once you see the baby's heartbeat your chance for a miscarriage goes all the way down to 2%. So it's a pretty safe bet that we're in the clear now which is a huge relief!!

The baby was measuring at 6 weeks and 4 days which is a day further than he/she should be which I guess just means he/she is very healthy! So my due date is now June 19th! The heart was beating at 115 beats per minute and the tech even turned on the machine to let us hear it for a few seconds. It was amazing and priceless.

Here are a couple of our first baby pics. Not a whole lot to see, but will hold us over until the next ultrasound which will be November 20th, I will be about 10 weeks along then.

Til then, thank you for all the well wishes and prayers. Keep 'em coming!

Lots of love,

Amber and Dylan

First baby blog

Hello and welcome friends and family!

Welcome to the baby Schmidt blog! This is a place where you can come frequently to check in on me and the baby. Since tomorrow marks 6 weeks I figured it was time to create this (have been planning to do it all along) so that our friends and family can keep up to date on the happenings and exciting news of the pregnancy and birth of our first baby!!

Dylan and I couldn't be any more excited! I received my first postitive home pregnancy test on Tuesday, October 7th and later that day took a digital test that indeed said "pregnant"! I have been back to the fertility clinic to have my Hcg levels tested (pregnancy hormone) and my levels were at 169 the first time. Anything over 25 indicates pregnancy. They like to see numbers double every 2 days and when I went back 2 days later we were at 396!! So that was great news!

For those that may not know, we did in fact do artificial insemnation, also known as an IUI (intrauterine insemination) with a donor's sperm. Since we are unable to produce a child the "natural" way, this was our next best option. This was actually our 3rd attempt at getting pregnant this year, and you know what they say, "third time's a charm!". This was also my first time with the aid of a fertility drug called clomid. I was put on the lowest dose possible at my request because I was terrified of a higher dose and the increased possibility of twins! I really think we can only handle one right now!! :)

Anyways, our first ultrasound is Monday, October 27th. I'm pretty sure I should be right at 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant then and from research we should be able to see a tiny little bean with a twinkling heartbeat so we're excited to see it!!

I will be sure to update with pics of the ultrasound next week and share news of our appointment!

Dylan and I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of you that were able to give to our "baby fund" for the wedding. Without your help we definitely would not be here so soon and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Thanks for reading my book! haha... and make sure to stop back often to keep up to date. I will do my best to update AT LEAST after every appointment going forward. Maybe mark the site in your favorites!!

Take care everyone and God bless,

Amber

PS. Please feel free to leave a comment, we would love lots and lots of them!! :D
